Patient Mentor

About the Role

A Patient Mentor provides in-class patient simulation and may choose to undergo physical examinations to support student learning. Patient Mentors also participate in exams (or mock exams) that students take to measure their educational progress

The major responsibility of this position is to portray all the characteristics of a real patient, simulating the signs and symptoms.

Patient Mentors will often be physically examined by students and faculty as part of the medical students learning experience.

Requirements

  • Portray all of the characteristics of a real patient, simulating the signs and symptoms of particular patient cases.

  • Will receive feedback from facilitators to incorporated into the case simulation for learning purposes.

  • Will be required to repeatedly simulate the patient case so physical examination maneuvers can be performed by student learners.
